Cleopatra, Queen of Egypt, decides to challenge the Roman Emperor Julius Caesar by building a sumptuous palace in the middle of the desert in three months. If she succeeds, he will have to publicly concede that the Egyptian people are the greatest of all peoples. To do this, Cleopatra calls on Numérobis, an energetic avant-garde architect. If he succeeds, she will shower him with gold. If he fails, she will throw him to the crocodiles. Aware of the challenge ahead, he seeks help from his old friend Panoramix. The druid travels to Egypt with Asterix and Obelix. Meanwhile, Amonbofis, Cleopatra's official architect, jealous that the queen has chosen Numerobis to build the palace, will do everything in his power to thwart his rival.
