When her mother dies, thirteen-year-old Amy goes to live with her father on a farm in Canada. She saves wild goose eggs from destruction. When the goslings hatch, they mistake her for their mother and follow only her. So much so that, to teach them to fly, Amy takes to the skies in a microlight, with the help of her father, who develops the machine. When winter migration arrives, Amy must guide her flock of friends south.
